If you’re planning a trip to one of the most romantic and picturesque cities in the world, Bruges, you’ll be wondering what are the easiest and most efficient ways to get here. If you’re landing at Brussels Airport, the largest international airport in Belgium, there are a number of ways to get to Bruges, some more expensive or faster than others. Here is our handy guide to travel from Brussels Airport to Bruges.
Travel by Taxi
We’ll start with the fastest way to get between the airport and wherever you want to go in Bruges; a taxi. The distance between the two is approximately 108kms, which should take you 75 minutes by car, depending on traffic. Although taxi is the fastest way to travel it is also the most expensive, with an average cost of approximately 147€ depending on your exact destination in Bruges. It sounds expensive but when shared between four (the usual number of passengers in a standard taxi) it’s not too bad. Taxis at Brussels (BRU) airport don’t have a flat-rate fee, instead, they charge using a meter based on distance and time. You can pick up a taxi very easily at the taxi rank just outside the doors of the arrival hall.
Travel by Car
Another quick way to get between Brussels Airport and Bruges is to hire a car. It will cost more initially but it could save you money on taxis and transport, especially if you are planning to travel further afield during your trip. There are many rental companies offering great rates in the airport, but we always recommend making your reservation before you leave so you can compare the best rates. Also, make sure your excess is covered to avoid a hefty addition to your rental cost.
