Here you will find endless gardens, protected nature zones, forests, castles and so much more. This region also offers a wide array of diverse possibilities: picturesque polder villages, charming cities, medieval castles and abbeys, nature reserves, and delicious local produce.\nFor the hiking, adventure, and nature lovers reading this, we have compiled a list of the 4 walking routes you must take when visiting the Hinterlands of Bruges.\n<h2>Castles Parks<\/h2>\nThe Hinterlands of Bruges is filled with woody forests all around the Flanders area but what you also might discover upon entering these forests are Medieval castles. One of these castles would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.castles.nl\/wijnendale-castle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Wijnendale<\/a>, the most important Flemish castle in the area. This building dates back to the 9th Century and you will see it in its truest form with iconic Gothic features such as a circular moat, that was built during the 19th century. Filled with historic value, the castle is open daily from 1st April to 30th September, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. It is pleasant to stroll in the parks and the gardens that surround them.\n<h2>Damme Heritage Walk<\/h2>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitdamme.be\/en\/heritage-walk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Damme<\/a> is a small polder town, this town offers an impressive heritage with a backdrop of the breathtaking landscape. This harbour town was extremely important during the war between Spain and Netherlands the town became a military fortress. Take a walk through over 800 years of history as you explore the city walks, the nature reserves, historic churches, and if you are a fan of literature the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brugseommeland.be\/en\/do\/till-ulenspiegel-museum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Ulenspiegel Museum<\/a>.
